Is it ok to go to a job interview if you have facial hair?

My grandson just graduated from a technical school that teaches you to use heavy equipment. If he goes on an interview should he shave off his facial hair.Is it ok to go to a job interview if you have facial hair?
Neatly trimmed beard and moustache are normally okay, although they need to be short and neat - employers working with heavy machinery tend to look at whether or not the employee could be a safety hazard - ie, can beards, excessive jewellery, etc possibly be caught in moving parts.

If he would be required to wear respiratory protection, there are guidelines which allow for only a specific amount of facial hair.

It's the same with any other job interview - if a girl goes to an interview looking like she just rolled out of bed, she more than likely won't get the position - men have the same responsibility to look presentable and neat.Is it ok to go to a job interview if you have facial hair?
As long as it is kept and neat it should be fine.
He doesn't have to shave it off, just look presentable
I have nothing against well groomed men with facial hair. However there are some people who do no matter how nice it looks. First impressions count. If he gets the job he can grow it back and keep it neat. But tat first impression of being clean cut will stick in the employers mind.
