What's the reason guys grow facial and body hair?

I know it's to do with hormones but I mean what purpose does it serve? Was it to keep us warm when out hunting like our ancestors had to and it's carried over from then?What's the reason guys grow facial and body hair?

The hormone that causes hair growth on the face and body is testosterone. This hormone is both in men and women. Body hair serves no purpose, but head hair is the human body's excess waste. Hair is our body's waste! (unless your bold...).





Our ancestors grew facial hair to keep warm and protect them against wind. They had hair almost all over their body. Humans are a lot less hairy then they used to be!

i'D SAY YOU HAVE MADE A FAIR ASSUMPTION THERE YES...It probably helped with camouflage too?? Another theory of mine is the woman and her bunch of flowers thing that they have...When the husband didn't manage a kill he'd bring back some coloured plants for his wife for decoration of the cave...Clever theory or what :)
Facial hair in males is/was used as a protection against the elements when in the role of hunter/provider. It has also been used to attract the opposite sex. by decorating or growing facial hair. :P
